bye bye baby [25 Sep 2006|05:06pm]

So, I regret to inform that my fiance and I are selling our '46 Dodge.  In the beginning we were thrilled about how extensive the project would be and how much we would appreciate it after all the blood, sweat, and tears but it has now become a burden that is growing between us.  We can't agree on anything when it comes to fabricating or performance and I was originally in charge of interior and it has no interior so it's pretty much taken the fun out of it for both of us.  This would be a great project for some old guy with lots of money but not for us.
So we're selling it, disassembled for 1500 obo.  It's got a great 318 v8 and automatic trans in it that are worth that alone so it's going for a great deal.  Ted and I plan on not buying our next car so hastily for we bought the truck originally only because it was the first thing we found for a grand.  I'm not sure it was ever what we really wanted.  We're hoping to get anything from a late 40's to early 60's sedan or coupe that just needs some body work and tinkering with.  We're planning on moving out of my folks house in about a year and we won't have the room to tackle a huge project like the truck.  We're hoping to find something that meets both of our wants and needs and are willing to pay more for such a thing this time around.  The truck taught us a great lesson and is really a wonderful car for someone experienced but for a "hand-me-down" mechanic and a rookie when it comes to auto-body, it's not the right project for us.
THanks for listening to my sob-story.  If anyone lives in the midwest and is interested in buying the truck here is it's listing on craigslist.  If we had the time we'd just sell it for parts because the door cranks alone are going for 50 a pop on ebay.  We just don't. :(

So this is a funny...I don't know, it's just a funny...happening.  We just got the title to our 46 Dodge Pickup today (after 2 months) and the guy we bought it from gave us the hubcaps for it.  They're 4 beautiful shiny DODGE hubcaps like this:

BUT, ours, after taking a good look at them, say: D-O-D-O-E
I'm not even kidding, it's hilarious.  I just thought I'd share. :P
By the way, we're going to keep them and use them, it'll give our truck "character".  Haha.

Hi, my name is Cass.  I just joined and I thought I'd show off my ride.

My fiance and I have had her for about a month now and she looks quite different now.  We've put about $300 into tuning up the engine and now we're in the process of removing the bed and cab from the frame to be sanded down and primered.  In the end she'll be flat black with ratfink green and white accents.  Smoothie wheels, white walls, etc.  She's due for a complete interior overhaul and a diamond plate bed.  I'll keep you posted as more work is done.
Hope you enjoyed it, let me know what you think :)

Hi, I'm new here, dunno if you have to be a girl to post here, but I'm a guy. I'm building a rat rod. See the pics in the links to check it out.

Hot RodCollapse )

I have since put the tail lights in, classic '39' Ford tear drop lights. Am using the original 4 banger, it's a diamond engine, (these are an aftermarket replacement for the original, made in the 1940's, and supposed to be a lot better and highly sought after) with a winfield head, and two stomberg '97's. Engine Is being rebuilt as we speak.Should be fairly fast when done. I'm also using running it with rod brakes. It has a 4" dropped front axle, and a reversed eye spring.

Any cute chickabilly's are more than welcome to come on a road trip with me when it's done. : )

For those of you that don't know, my husband and I run a hot rod shop. I am finally updating our myspace page! People ask me all of the time if we have a website so I am going to start using the myspace page more for business. So here it is!

So there is a new online subculture magazine called Crave and they asked my husband Jonah to do an interview for their featured interview. It just posted and I think it is pretty good (besides some spelling errors). The interview is all about our shop...check it out...

Hey, I just got invited to be a pledge for the Road Devils and I wanted to know what people had heard about them. I checked out their website and they seem swell...but I just wanted to check word of mouth too...
